Chantilly is an awesome place to live and is best known for its’ schools. Although, our son was out of school when we moved here, all the neighbors loved the schools and they are close enough to walk to. Being close to Dulles Airport was very convenient. Since we have a corner lot and have lots of extra parking, we had friends park their car here when leaving out of Dulles.
We are really close to Rt. 28, Fairfax County Parkway, The Toll Rd and I-66 making it easy to get to shopping, Metro, Tysons and Fair Oaks Shopping Centers. We are also really close to two major medical centers for INOVA at Fair Oaks and Fairfax & HCA in Reston. George Mason University and NOVA Community college is not far either.
What we love most about our neighborhood is our cul-de-sac is the only non HOA neighborhood in the area. All of our neighbors are friendly and helpful. Our neighborhood is also unique because there are many walking trails and parks nearby. There are also many churches of different faiths nearby.
Willard’s BBQ is the best NC Style BBQ this side of North Carolina and close by. We also love going to Bonefish Grill and the variety of ethnic restaurants close by. Grocery shopping is also easy and close by in our area.
When we were looking for the “move up home” we looked at many homes, but when we walked into the foyer, we just knew this was the one. It just had the “wow” factor with the large foyer and the staircase. All the rooms are large and have large closets. One of the first things we noticed was the spaciousness of the rooms and the amount of storage space on all levels (coat, linen and pantry closets).
We were very happy to see the dining room was large enough for an adult and kids’ table! The master suite was large enough for us to have king size furniture and still have room for our pool table. (That’s another story!) The 2 walk-in closets in the master bedroom are more like dressing rooms with the built- in shelving. The large master bath with double sinks is spacious. The separate water closet allows two people to get ready in the morning without bumping into each other.
The home is a book-lover's’ dream with built-in shelves in the office/library and also on the lower level. The openness of the eat-in kitchen is inviting and the double ovens in the kitchen and loads of counter space allows fixing large meals a breeze.
Our teenage son zoned right in on the lower level suite and it was a great place for him to have friends over. This was the “gathering place”. The built in office/desk work area in the LL was great for our son when he was in college and for us later on.
The family room was where we spent most of our time, but the living room and dining room hold many memories of family meals and celebrations. The library was a great working office. It can be closed off for privacy yet still close enough to the family for interaction.

The storage area in the unfinished part of the basement allowed us to keep our toys (snow blower, bikes etc.) and still use the garage for 2 cars.
Some things that my wife and I enjoy are reading, spending time at the beach, and going on walks. I also like swimming, coin collecting and using ebay and my wife really joys knitting.
Some changes we made to the home were updating the kitchen with granite counters, adding an island, and new lighting. We also installed custom drapes, replaced the aluminum siding with vinyl and had Tyvek wrap installed at the same time. We replaced the original front door, windows, roof, basement sliding glass door, and door to the deck with energy efficient replacements. We keyed all the doors to one key. We also had professionally designed landscaping completed which included installing brick steps and adding a post light. Lastly, we replaced two toilets with world famous TOTO toilets, replaced both heat pumps, water heaters and installed Gutter Helmets with warranty transfer.
This was a great home and we will miss it, but it is very large and we are now empty nesters. It was the right time for us to downsize and let another family enjoy the spaciousness and family friendly neighborhood.
