Clarksburg has been a great place to live, and it's only going to continue growing. We love that we were able to stay in Montgomery County with a good suburban feel to experience the quiet life when needed and also have the option to drive to the nearby city life.

The area has been great for going on nature walks on the trails, jogging/biking on the numerous paths and visiting the local parks. There's always a lot of tennis courts available in the area, too. Going to the new Premium Outlets in Clarksburg has been very enjoyable and a great surprise to have that type of shopping destination so close to our home. 

There are many convenient places to get food right in the neighborhood shopping center, including Subway, Dunkin' Donuts, and Papa John's for convenience and Chinese food and GrillMarx if you're looking for a restaurant.  If venturing outside of the neighborhood, there are even more options close by, like Chipotle, Agrodolce and the best Thai food we've had at Sabai Sabai!
This neighborhood offers lots of experiences and conveniences that we haven't seen elsewhere. There's an abundance of nature nearby, including many walking trails and forest preservation areas. The value of having a supermarket in your backyard cannot be overstated. On top of that, there are multiple places in the shopping center where you can pick up food or take family and friends to a restaurant.  

All the schools a family would need are extremely close by. We also find it very unique that we can easily drop off our car for service right in our backyard too, at the Autostream Car Care, and not have to go out of our way at all for car maintenance. Sometimes it really feels like there's no need to leave the neighborhood since everything is here!
We had no doubts about buying this home because it's in a good neighborhood, part of a planned development that has just the right residential feel, and it's the perfect price for living in a great area.  We were able to get all the upgraded appliances, fixtures and flooring that would make the house feel luxurious along with its spacious layout while, at the same time, not requiring a lot of upkeep and still maintaining a feeling of coziness and comfort.
We love the open floor plan, and we love having lots of space because of it! A lot of natural light flows through the home, aided by the bay window upstairs and the large windows downstairs. The spacious kitchen and large refrigerator/freezer are perfect for accommodating all the cooking projects we could think of! We've found that the layout downstairs is perfect for entertaining friends and family and going upstairs to the rec room to watch a movie or relax is a perfect transition.  We've also enjoyed fuss-free homeownership without any need for lawn mowing or landscaping, allowing us to appreciate our time at home even more.

Since we chose many upgrades when the house was built and everything is still in great condition, we haven't really had a need to implement improvements or upgrades. We did, however, replace/upgrade the kitchen faucet with a pull-down fixture to match the upscale feel of the kitchen and dining areas.

DC is a place that has never-ending adventure and exploration. There is something for everyone from history to art and cuisine to nature parks. However, our favorite aspect of living in DC has been the long-lasting friendships we have built.

Our area has quick access to lovely hikes in Rock Creek Park, bike routes all over the city,  local farmers’ markets, and our favorite breweries. Also, who else can say they have a historic Civil War battlefield in which Abraham Lincoln visited in their backyard?

Our neighborhood is friendly, quiet, and safe. It’s a neighborhood where people establish roots and build relationships. One of the most difficult aspects of selling our home will be living further away from our supportive and caring neighbors, as several have become our best friends. Although our neighborhood feels quiet and comfortable, we feel we are at the hub of the best that DC has to offer.

Right down the street is our favorite spot: Mooreland’s Tavern, which is owned by our friends. We also frequent Imm, a Thai restaurant, and Haydee’s, a family-owned Tex-Mex restaurant. Nearby, Takoma Park has many charming places such as Roscoe’s, Olive Lounge, and Republic. We also ride our bikes to Denizen’s Brewery, which has a great menu and outdoor seating.

Our home is quaint and quiet, yet it is conveniently located to the allure of the city and the escape of nature in Rock Creek Park. It’s such a treat to live in an adorable, comfortable home and to be a short walk to a beautiful national park, shopping, and restaurants. It’s the perfect blend of city and getaway.

Our house had a charisma and offered more than we ever thought we could find in the city. We were excited about owning a detached home with a private yard and a secure parking spot. We knew it was a home where our family would be happy, and it was a place where we could grow.

We have put an abundance of love, labor, and monetary efforts into our home. Initially, we made drastic improvements to the landscaping in the front yard. We also installed an electric gate to make our backyard more private and to provide ease with entering/exiting in our vehicles. We renovated the shower in the downstairs bathroom by installing a mud set drainage system and new tile. Next, we completely renovated our upstairs bathroom. This was an extensive renovation in which we completely gutted the room, added insulation, replaced all plumbing and electric work. There is also a custom shower and door. Although our attic was finished, it was an unusable space in our home. We completely renovated the space down to the studs, sprayed in brand new insulation, which significantly improved the efficiency of the home. The new attic contains new hardwood floors, a customized closet from Closet America (warranty passes on to the next homeowner,) and new electric and windows. While renovating the attic, we opted to install an entirely new HVAC system in our home. With the new insulation and HVAC system, our home is more comfortable than ever.

Fredericksburg is one of the finest small towns in the country!  The people are very friendly and come from all sorts of backgrounds. There is a wonderful sense of community and a ton of activities and festivals going on. The city boasts a great art and music scene, there are awesome eateries, and we have a beautiful river running through the heart of town. We also have some terrific parks, in particular Motts Run Reservoir. The Heritage Trail is one of the best things the city ever did. Except for a few steamy weeks in the summer, you cannot beat the four seasons here.


The Altoona subdivision was a great place to raise our kids. The neighbors were very friendly and on our little area along Seneca Terrace we have made some very dear, lifelong friends. We've been through a lot together over the years and now our kids have all grown and gone.  New families with children are moving in and the cycle continues! We have always enjoyed the trees in Altoona - you feel like you are in the woods. Our kids spent countless hours playing in North Hazel Run at the end of Altoona and our yard boasted a treehouse once upon a time.  After taking that down we built a deluxe chicken coop which is attractive and functional! We are close to everything here. It's also a great place to walk and it's not overly lit-up at night.


We love to go to Sperryville in the fall and get apples and eat at the Thornton River Grille or head to Culpeper for breakfast at the Frost Diner. Hiking Old Rag is a fall tradition and I love to paddle my kayak on the tidal Rappahannock or at Aquia Landing, or Accokeek Creek near Crow's Nest - so many great places!  The Northern Neck is paradise with Westmoreland Berry Farm, Westmoreland State Park (great campgrounds and hiking), Stratford Hall, and Washington's Birthplace.  


We have many favorite restaurants nearby too. Eileen's is great for lunch, Castiglia's is also a favorite.  For special occasions we may go to La Petite Auberge. Hyperion Espresso and Agora are great coffee shops, and even the Wegman's Seafood bar is a great place to catch a delicious dinner!  There are a ton of delightful places to eat downtown!


When we first viewed our home the owners had a fire going and the cozy family room drew us in from the start!  We knew the good-sized yard would be great for our two young boys.  And the house had a nice street appeal.  The back deck and garden are wonderful for eating dinner in warmer weather and entertaining.  We've had many parties out there!  The hot tub is a wonderful place to soak up the night sky or read a book! We love the master bedroom and bath as they are full of light and very roomy and we really enjoy sitting on the balcony off the master bedroom during a thunderstorm.  The family room is very cozy and the fireplace puts out some good heat!


Since living here we have put on a new roof and gutters, a new HVAC, and new lights in various locations.  We've updated the master bedroom and bath, the guest bath, the downstairs bath, and guest room.  We tiled the small entrance from the back deck, built a beautiful chicken coop, and sealed the driveway. In 2010 we tiled the front porch which was the best thing we did for our home.
